Headshapes

Oval Head
  • The most common shape.
  • Combination of strength and flexibility.
  • Distributes the impact of cutting evenly.
  • Can be used for a wide variety of applications.

Tapered Head
  • The sides are shaped along diagonal lines.
  • Increased access when limited space.
  • Does not stand up to misuse as well as an oval head.
  • Greater degree of care should be taken.

Tapered Head
Tapered and Relieved Head
  • Smallest of the standard cutting heads.
  • Tapered on both sides with underside cut away.
  • Allows access into very space limited areas.
  • Slightly reduced cutting range.
  • Special care should be taken in its use.
